Ninety Nine Percent of Muslim Women Go to Hell
One controversy that Muslim’s are facing all over the world is their treatment of women. They defend themselves by saying that women get equal right according to Islam, but is that true? What does the Quran and Hadith’s say about women and their treatment? One of the subjects that comes up frequently that Muslims need to defend are some Hadith’s that say that 99% of women go to Hell but is that true? We are going to look at that and you can decide for yourself.
Out of 99 women, one is in paradise and the rest are in Hell.
Muhammad Hadith Kanz al-`ummal, 22:10
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:
According to several Hadiths, 99% of women go to Hell. Why would any woman want to be a part of a religion and belief system that does not appreciate them? A religion that does not honor them and love them? Of course, many Muslim’s down play those verses and say that any interpretation that says they go to Hell for being a woman is wrong. I use a lot of verses from the Quran and the Bible so that people can’t say I am cherry picking one verse to make a point. In reality, to know the beliefs of any religion, it is always a good idea to look at as many verses as possible on a particular aspect of that religion, both good and bad to really understand, at least if you are interested in the truth.
It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allah ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “I was shown Hell and I have never seen anything more terrifying than it. And I saw that the majority of its people are women.” They said, “Why, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Because of their ingratitude (kufr).” It was said, “Are they ungrateful to Allah?” He said, “They are ungrateful to their companions (husbands) and ungrateful for good treatment. If you are kind to one of them for a lifetime then she sees one (undesirable) thing in you, she will say, ‘I have never had anything good from you.’”
(Narrated by al-Bukhari, 1052)
The Prophet said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, ‘I have never received any good from you.”
Bukhari :: Book 1 :: Volume 2 :: Hadith 28
`Abdullah Ibn `Amr narrated: “O women! Give alms and ask pardon [from God] frequently, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell were you.” “One of them asked, ‘Why, Messenger of God, are we the majority of the dwellers of Hell?’ He replied, ‘You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you.’ “
Usama b. Zaid reported that Allah’s Messenger (way peace be upon him) said: I stood at the door of Paradise and I found that the overwhelming majority of those who entered therein was that of poor persons and the wealthy persons were detained to get into that. The denizens of Hell were commanded to get into Hell, and I stood upon the door of Fire and the majority amongst them who entered there was that of women.
In addition to stating that a majority of those in Hell are women, the above Haddith also says that a majority of those in Heaven are the poor, so why did Muhammad rob and steal from as many people as he could to accumulate wealth? If he really believed that most of those in Heaven are the poor, wouldn’t he want to be poor, the same as Jesus? Could it be that he never actually saw Heaven?
Ibn Abbas reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: I had a chance to look into the Paradise and I found that majority of the people was poor and I looked into the Fire and there I found the majority constituted by women.
The following comments made by a Muslim commentator states that the Quran and Hadith’s do not say that women go to Hell for being women.
“Christians often use a Hadith to malign Islam that women are not given equal rights and are condemned to remain in the Hell fire. While they lie, they try to make some issue out of the following Hadith.”
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas: The Prophet said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, ‘I have never received any good from you.” (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 28)
Context of the Hadith:
“The very first thing that is a must to be kept in mind when going through the Islamic Sources is that you cannot pick up a verse or a Hadith, take it in isolation from the rest of Islamic rubric and run to races with it. This is criminal only. Indeed one has to consider all the various Hadith’s pertaining to an issue one way or the other, consider the context of each of them and then draw some conclusion. Unfortunately most of the Christian readers of Quran and Hadith fail on this account.
Now clearly we see that at the time this was said, Holy Prophet (pbuh) was not actually dwelling on the point if men or women will form the majority in the Hell and Paradise, he was only asking women to mend their ways and was pointing to a common problem in the attitude of the women. This was his duty being Al-Nazeer (the Warner). They do not go to Hell for being women:
The Hadith does not say they go to Hell for being women, it actually points out to a wrong behavior on women’s part. The real misunderstanding comes with the notion that women outnumber men in Hell because of their womanhood. This is indeed wrong, there is nothing like that in the Hadith, not even in the least.”
The problem with this Muslim’s thinking is that he is attributing a characteristic ONLY to women. He says that women don’t go to Hell for being women, they go to Hell for being ungrateful. He is saying that not one single man in the entire world is ungrateful. He says that women need to mend their ways but he doesn’t say anything about the fact that many Muslim men treat women with total disrespect and hatred. They rape many women, they do not allow them to go outside, they beat them, they don’t show them any gratitude. Not all Muslim men treat women this way but many do.
There are several other verses that confirm Islam’s negative view of women:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Once Allah’s Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o ‘Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, “O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women).” They asked, “Why is it so, O Allah’s Apostle ?” He replied, “You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you.” The women asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?” He said, “Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?” They replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn’t it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?” The women replied in the affirmative. He said, “This is the deficiency in her religion.”
Sahih Bukhari 1:6:301
In addition to saying that women go to Hell for being ungrateful, the above verse says that women are also stupid and that they are deficient in their religion because they have periods. So, in other words, women go to Hell, not for being women but because they are stupid and because they menstruate. Do men menstruate? Does it take two men as witnesses to every woman? Who is it that said it takes two women as witnesses to every man? It was supposedly Allah but really Muhammad. Then, according to this verse, men can’t be sent to Hell as often as women. So, women do go to Hell for being women.
Some other things the Quran goes on to say about women:
“Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will.” Wives are to be sexually available to their husbands in all ways at all times. They serve their husbands at his command
The above verse says that women are there for men’s sexual satisfaction and that women are not allowed to refuse them. Do you really think that a god would be so concerned about men getting as much sex as they want or does that sound more like a man wanting to put his will on to women so that he ensures that he (and other men) are sexually satisfied?
Lewd women should be punished with life imprisonment until death: “If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or God ordain for them some (other) way.”
“If two men among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. If they repent and amend, leave them alone; for God is Oft-returning, Most Merciful.”
The Quran is full of double standards when it comes to men and women. The above verses say that if a woman commits lewd acts, she is to be sentenced to life, but if a man does the same acts, he will be forgiven if he repents.
God does accept repentance, but only of those who are guilty of an evil out of ignorance, yet quickly repent
Then the Quran goes on to say that if a man does evil out of ignorance, he will be forgiven if he repents. But earlier, the Quran said women are the ignorant ones. So, why isn’t a woman forgiven for doing evil out of ignorance?
Many of the Quran verses talk about sex and how women are sex objects for men. That is why, in the beginning, many criminals and others joined Islam, because it gave them a legitimate reason to have sex as much as they wanted with whomever they want. So, why is it that so many women are sent to Hell? Is it for allowing themselves to be raped or for becoming sex objects?
Do these verses really sound like they were written by God or do they sound like they were written by a sex crazed man? Why would God think so much about sex and about women going to Hell? On the other hand, Muhammad who had more than ten wives, thought about sex all the time, many nights visiting all of his wives.
If you fear highhandedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great. (Haleem, emphasis added)
In the above verse, husbands may hit their wives even if the husbands merely fear highhandedness in their wives (quite apart from whether they actually are highhanded). In other words, if a man thinks a woman is ungrateful and acts a certain way, he is allowed to hit her. But she is the one going to Hell for being ungrateful?
Another thing to think about is why is only one woman, Mariam, Jesus’ mother mentioned in the Quran? No other woman is mentioned anywhere in the Quran.
What Does the Bible Say About women?
The God of the Bible however, as indicated in the following Bible verses is a loving God and wants women to be loved and to have a good life. He does not distinguish between men and women going to Hell. Everybody, man or woman can be accepted into Heaven, simply by believing in Jesus and asking Him into their heart.
“In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.”
1 Timothy 3:11
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD.”
“Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.”–
1 Timothy 2:9-10
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
“No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
If I was a woman, I would rather follow a God who loves me and values me as opposed to a god who hates me, doesn’t value me and condemns me.
